New Trailer Reviews (#7)

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

Olaf is back !

This looks so sweet. After seeing the short film which was centered around Spring, now we get to see them at Christmas time. And this is my favourite holiday. December is my favourite month. Frozen is one of my favourites films. So I couldn’t be more excited. Especially because it’s linked to Coco, the newest Pixar Film. We will have new songs about Christmas and family. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited? I do hope they don’t milk the story too much. I’d rather see a full length second film really soon, then 10 little short films. Disney get at it.

Flatliners

Students go further than ever to get a rush

This movie started out looking like a movie about students and partying, but then took a turn for the worse. Actually for the better, because it seems like a really interesting movie with great actors, a lot of possible crazy plot points and amazing action scenes. The concept is actually so interesting and one that has been touched upon here and there, but not in a full-blown movie. I can’t wait to see what they do with it and how it’ll turn out. I hope it doesn’t get stuck in its seriousness about the afterlife, but that they focus on the thriller aspect of the movie.

Jungle

Daniel Radcliffe is stuck in the Jungle

What is it with movies lately, this is the second trailer where the story takes us a certain way at first, and then turns it completely around and goes the thriller route? It’s build the entirely same way as Flatliners. First giving us a more ‘Into the Wild’-vibe. Daniel Radcliffe is on a journey around the world, travelling, experiencing life as it comes, seeing beautiful new places. Then he meets someone who takes him and a few others into the jungle to explore and leaves them all behind and then shit happens. It does seem like a great movie, with a lot of action and suspense, but the way the trailer was built, just reminded me a lot of the other one. I’m not sure I’ll see this one in cinemas though. Depends a bit on the second trailer. I’m more into the sci-fi storyline of Flatliners.

Goodbye Christopher Robin

story of the creator of Winnie The Pooh

This seems like such a cute movie, a bit like Paddington. The images look great and from this first look it seems a perfect blend of cinematography and music. I’m excited to see how Margot Robbie’s British accent will be. But I’m mostly excited to see how they’ll tell the story. I hope it will be full of fantasy, really putting the stories they tell on our screens in combination with their actual story. Just a bit of a mix like with Big Fish. We’ll have to wait and see. But I’ll be sure to check this one in cinemas.

Daddy’s Home 2

Meet the Fockers #2

I wasn’t really interested in the first film, but this one seems actually really funny. Plus, I must be honest, I’m a sucker for a good Christmas movie. It does remind me a lot of Meet the Fockers and Meet the Parents. But with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell it will have it’s own type of humor. And I can’t wait to see Mel Gibson and John Lithgow clash. This will be one I will watch in the month of December, at home, and add to my pile of Christmas movies to get me excited for the holidays. I’m already in the mood for it. ^^

Home Again

Another Romantic Comedy with Reese Witherspoon

Now this second trailer has me a bit more excited for this film. The short sentence I read on IMDb, doesn’t really come over in the trailer though. I didn’t get the feeling they were moving in with her and her family, but I do think this will give a more interesting twist to the story and i can’t wait to see how it will turn out. I won’t go see it in cinemas, but I’ll pick it up when I want to watch a movie on a lazy night or for a fun girlsnight.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#6)

The Mountain Between Us

Idris Elba and Kate Winslet try to survive

I don’t really know what to think of this movie. It’s packed with star power. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are both great actors with different awards behind their names and now they are acting together in a disaster movie. Do they want to attract award nominations and make a really serious movie about survival, or do they just want to make a good disaster movie, full of action, survival and suspense? I just don’t know and this bothers me a bit. Normally a trailer is more ‘open’ about the way they want to take this movie, but here I frankly don’t know. I prefer to know it before I watch a movie so I can put myself in the right mindset. Maybe trailer #2 will give me another perspective on this. I will watch it, but probably not in cinemas.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Funny and Action, I’m in

Now, this seems like a fun movie. With Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard charged with protecting Samuel L. Jackson as the hitman, this movie has a lot going for it. Next to them we can also see Salma Hayek and so many others. It seems to has a nice plot, a lot of crazy action scenes and gives of a little bit of a Deadpool and Kingsman vibe. This will definitely be one I’ll be seeing in cinemas, just to experience it in all its glory on the big screen.

Murder on the Orient Express

A huge cast tackles this well-known tale

This was a trailer I waited so long for and it looks great! The huge cast they got together is just so impressive that I’m sure this film will be amazing. The cinematography looks great. The music seems on point. The graphics are perfect. It all seems so well put together and the tension is already real in the trailer. I can’t wait to see this great story turned to the big screen again with some of the biggest stars of the moment. November can’t be here quick enough.

Coco

The latest Pixar Movie

Yes, Pixar is back! And this seems like the cutest film ever. I already saw the teaser trailer, but here we get to see more of the story and the feel of the movie; At first sight, it does remind me a bit of ‘The Book of Life’, but I hope the story takes us a totally different way. I think they will focus more on family and the differences between their worlds. The images and graphics look great, as per usual with a Pixar movie and I’m sure it will hit us right in the heart. Definitely one I will watch in cinemas.

Black Panther

Damn

I like where Marvel is heading with this one. I watched it three-four times in a row just to be sure that I catched up on all the little details. Because, wauw. The way they blend African culture with the modern world is amazing. The action scenes look mindblowing. The costumes are ridiculously gorgeous and the story will be, in my opinion, one of the more interesting ones in the Marvel universe. Only negative point is that we’ll have to wait until February of next year until we can see it.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#5)

Star Trek: Discovery (Netflix)

Netflix gives Star Trek a go

It’s quite interesting to see the different movie franchises taking the step to the small screen. And here we even get a franchise that started on the small screen, jumped to the big screen and is now leaping back to small screen. And with Netflix it’ll come even to our phone screens. I’m actually excited about this one. It seems great and the production design seems out of this world. I just hope it doesn’t go the way the current Marvel stories are evolving into. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it’ll go.

From the Land of the Moon

Marion Cotillard at her best

This movie looks so great. It gives me the feeling of a beautiful European art film. Marion Cotillard is great and is back to what she can do best: deep and dramatic roles. This film will probably rip my heart out, throw it on the ground and stomp all over it. It’s been a long time since seeing such a film that got me really excited, with an interesting story and cast. So I’ll definitely check this one out on the big screen.

Paddington 2

Yes, he’s back

When it was first announced they were making a second Paddington, I was a bit hesitant. I loved the first one so much and I didn’t want them to screw it up. But now after seeing this first teaser I’m actually really excited. Paddington is really sweet and I do have the feeling the family is even more involved in this story. I can’t wait to see what they all get up to and what the story will be all about.

Rough Night

Euhm… What?

This just seems so wrong. It looks like one of those films again. I think they want to make another movie with strong women, to empower us, but I don’t think they are hitting their mark. It seems pushed. It seems strained. This is a perfect movie to watch with my friends on a slow saturday night, but not on the big screen.

Logan Lucky

Steven Soderbergh is here to wauw us again

With a cast of Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Seth MacFarlane, Adam Driver and Riley Keough, this movie can’t be anything but great. And especially with Steven Soderbergh in the director seat and with this amazing trailer, this is a movie I’ll definitely see in cinema’s. It looks crazy and so much fun and I… Can’t… Wait… 😀

Victoria and Abdul

The queen and her friend invite us

This movie and the story, the story that is known by everyone, this will be a great one. This will touch everybody. This certainly will touch me. And with Dame Judi Dench, you know the acting will be on point. I don’t even want to tell more about it, because this is certainly one I will watch. And the sooner it gets out, the better.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#4)

2:22

A different kind of Groundhog Day

Michiel Huisman is gorgeous and he is probably the only reason I will go see this movie. There, I said it, now I can continue with my review. This movie sounds strange. The story is just so confusing and when I read the synopsis on IMDb, it doesn’t match at all with what we get to see in this trailer. I think they can do great things with this premise (an ominous pattern of events repeat itself in exactly the same way every day, ending at 2:22), but I’m afraid that when it’ll be to difficult to follow or to understand, we won’t be hooked enough to care how this movie ends. I think for me, the make or break it, will be the second trailer where hopefully it’ll be explained a bit more. We’ll see. I don’t think this is a movie I will catch in cinemas.

Blade Runner 2049

They’re back !!

Ryan Gosling… Jared Leto… Harrison Ford… Need I say more? This with direction by Dennis Villeneuve… It’s going to be amazing. I loved the original. I enjoyed the story, the way it was told, the cinematography. The use of colours, the duality between the colours and the greyness/darkness. I have a feeling this will be the same with this new movie. I hope he uses the same style and genre, but make it his own, so we can have the same character development we had in Arrival. I’m excited.

The Gifted – Fox

The X-men come to a tv-screen near you

This looks so great. I honestly didn’t know they were putting this show up. I was transfixed on any news on Netflix and their Marvel stories, that the idea of my favourites (the X-men) coming to television this fall completely passed me by. And then I saw this trailer. And now I’m excited. I hope it has this Heroes-vibe to it, but with the X-men background. I hope they don’t overdo it too much as to lose the look and feel of what makes X-men so special. I’ll definitely be checking this one out when it comes out.

Battle of the Sexes

Emma Stone vs Steve Carell

Yes, this movie has finally a trailer. And it looks amazing. Emma Stone is gorgeous and so real as Billie Jean King. And Steve Carell looks as his best self as this goofy Bobby Riggs. I can’t wait to see their fighting and knowing what (at least) Emma Stone went through as physical training for this part, I know both of them are so dedicated to this story. This is one great story and one I can’t wait to see as a film.

The Breadwinner

Animation at it’s best

The production company behind Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells bring us this new movie with Angelina Jolie as producer. If you watch the trailer you find their style so much in what they do. I loved Song of the Sea so much. It is to date my favourite animated feature. I was transformed by the story, the images, the music… I can’t wait to see what they’ll do with this story. One set in an entire different world from theirs and what they’re used to. But I do think they’re the perfect vessel to tell this story. Because it will be told with dignity and beauty. A must-see for me.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#3)

Tulip Fever

Tulip, Art and The Netherlands…

Being from Belgium, I’ve known a little bit about the history of the Netherlands and their beautiful flowers, the Tulips. Here, this movie will give us a combination of what they’re known for the best: Tulip and art. Now, this story does remind me a little bit of ‘The Girl With The Pearl Earring’, working with a similar story (painter falls in love with his subject). But with Alicia Vikander and Dane DeHaan, I can’t expect anything but greatness. These are highly talented actors and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the story.

Colossal

Anne Hathaway is a kickass Monster

Now this one seems interesting. Anne Hathaway gets her chance here to put her comedic talent to use in an action movie. It seems an interesting story, another twist to a genre overly present on screens nowadays. It seems dark and funny and I can’t wait to see what turn this story will take. I hope it doesn’t take itself too seriously or too funny, but that they easily find the perfect combination. This is a must-see for me.

The Defenders (Netflix)

Netflix Latest Marvel Story

I’m just not convinced. I’m not… You can say what you want, but they don’t seem an interesting match to me. The fun thing about the Avengers is that they are all so different and their differences make their combination interesting. Daredevil, Jessica Jonas, Luke Cage and the Iron Fist are all broody, dark people and I’m afraid they will all be mushed together. I’m just not sure about this one.

The Dark Tower

Another Stephen King Adaptation

Sometimes I get the feeling they don’t know what to film anymore. They keep picking up other stories that already have known success. This one seems  rather interesting, but I’m a bit scared that the trailer looks too good to be true. Knowing Stephen King and his Fantasy stories, there will be a lot of background and story you’ll have to know before understanding the entire world and I’m afraid the movie won’t be long enough to be explained logically. Either it will only be explaining the world to set everything up for the next film (if there is one). Or it will be more action and we’ll be guessing how the world works. I’ll definitely check this one out, but I’m not entirely sure whether I’ll see it in cinemas or at home. One thing I am excited about seeing is Matthew McConaghey as a bad guy. That must be so interesting.

Dunkirk

Christopher Nolan tackles a War story

This is one of my more anticipated movies of all time! Okay, of 2017. I mean Christopher Nolan who tackles the story of Dunkirk, what could go wrong. This can’t be any more than perfection. I can’t wait to see how he brings this story to life and if you look at the cast (except of Harry Styles, I mean, Euhm what the hell?) this movie will be brought to life by some amazing actors. I just… I can’t put my thoughts and emotions on paper, because I’m so excited! I’ll definitely check this one out in cinemas.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#2)

There are plenty of new trailers that dropped the last few days/weeks. So I wanted to sum some of the more memorable ones.

Thor: Ragnarok

Thor is now entirely in space

This looks crazy. When looking at this trailer I got a mix of feelings. First I thought I was looking at the first mashup between Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor. Honestly, I was looking for Starlord, Gamorra or Groot to step out of the shadows at any moment. The colours, the story that takes place entirely in space on his planet and the music just made me think of that other Marvel story. On the other hand it’s way darker than any Thor or other Marvel movie has ever gotten. With Cate Blanchett (Cate Blanchett!!) playing the Baddie here (she’s playing Hela, Goddess of Death), Thor will have some difficulties in this story. The trailer starts with his hammer Mjölnir being broken by her, so I don’t really know what’s going to happen after this.

It doesn’t really tell us what the story will be about. We’re just seeing some fun and darker moments, showing us how the movie will be, look and feel like. Thor will forever hold its special place in my heart (because I first saw it on Erasmus in Rome with some of my new friends) and I’m highly anticipating this third installment. See you on the 2nd November in cinemas!

Atomic Blonde

Charlize Theron is Atomic.

I’m not a huge fan of Charlize Theron. There is something about her that makes me disconnect from her acting. I have no idea what it is or what it could be. And although this movie looks kickass and has a strong female character in it (all things I like in movies), it just doesn’t really speak to me. I’m not really excited to go see it. I’ll probably see it when it’s on TV, just because Sofia Boutella and Bill Skarsgard are in it, but I won’t catch in cinemas.

Detroit

Kathryn Bigelow is at it again

Aargh… Aargh… AAAAAAAAAAH. This looks so good. Now this is a movie I’m excited to see. I’ve been a huge fan of Kathryn Bigelow since The Hurt Locker, devouring every movie she has made and feeling her love for the different subjects in every scene she put out there. She doesn’t shy away from tackling difficult stories, but always with a sense of respect. All her movies have this documentary feel to it, which makes her style so unique.

Here she tells the story of one of the largest citizen uprisings in the US, in Detroit. With John Boyega, Will Poulter, Anthony Mackie, John Krasinki, and even more, this movie is going to be awesome. So much acting talent in one movie and one of the most gripping stories will make this a movie that will have an impact. Especially with everything that is happening in the world right now, it’s time to come out with such stories so we never forget and finally start to learn from everything that has happened in the past.  I will see this one the cinema as well.

American Assassin

Dylan O’Brien goes rogue…

I’m a huge fan of Dylan O’Brien and I feel with this film he’s growing up from Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner, tackling more serious roles and showing all his acting abilities. Next to Michael Keaton and Taylor Kitsch, this trailer is packed with action, suspense and some amazing shots. I didn’t have to opportunity to read the book, but after seeing this trailer, I’m highly anticipating this one and I’ll definitely pick up the book just to see what it’s about.

I’m not sure I’ll be catching this one in cinemas, just because there are so many movies like this one and I’m afraid to be disappointed. I think this is one of those cases where I have to see the second trailer, before making up my mind.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

What… The … Kingsman

We don’t get to see much. It all goes by so quickly. But what we get from the flashes seems so crazy and cool. The first Kingsman was a total surprise hit to a lot of people and some, myself included, became instant fans from the first scene on. So when the news came that a second one was in the making, I couldn’t stop being excited. And with this teaser, because it definitely is a teaser, I’m more excited than ever.

And now the full-on trailer.

This trailer has me even more excited. It shows us a little glimpse of the story, but most of all we get awesome shots of the movie and how it will look like. This will be packed with action sequences, funny little moments, darker scenes… They don’t shy away from the genre and the look of the first film and thank god for that. I can’t wait to get more of the darker, grittier, funny and raunchier Kingsman. An action film to my heart, this one is.

The Exception

Hell of a Cast, Hell of a Story

I knew this film was coming, because I once was in the running to help on this set. Some of it was shot in Belgium and that gave me the opportunity to work on it. But unfortunately, due to a conflict in my schedule, I had to drop out of it and since then I have been waiting to see how it would turn out. I must say, this trailer actually looks rather interesting. Lily James takes on a more dramatic, darker role, one we aren’t used from her. Even in Downton Abbey she was more the sparkly-one. I have a weak spot for Jai Courtney. I find him one hell of an actor and I can’t wait to see what he does with this part. He’s going to be able to showcase his more dramatic side, a more softer side and still show he is a kick-ass person. And with Christopher Plummer and Janet McTeer, this movie has an amazing cast. I’m excited to see this, because of its love story, because of its setting, but most importantly because, even though this is a fictionalised story, this is a part of history that I haven’t seen yet on film. Can’t wait and I’ll definitely be catching this one in theatres as well.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews

There are plenty of new trailers that dropped the last few days/weeks. So I wanted to sum some of the more memorable and one that just leaves me confused.

The Mummy

Reboot of the Mummy with Tom Cruise… euhm…

I’m not a fan of Tom Cruise. There, I said it. Let the backlash begin. Honestly, I don’t know why that is. I just don’t know. I just can’t connect to his acting and to his movies. I’m afraid it’s going to be the same with this one. The originals were okay. They were a nice piece of entertainment and I enjoyed them on a saturday night with my family.

What I am excited about is to see Sofia Boutella at work. She has an interesting resume for the moment, starting in Kingsman (where she was so freaking awesome) and an interesting role in Star Trek:Beyond. I can’t wait to see her take on the mummy. It won’t be a film I’ll see in theatres I’m afraid, but I’ll keep it in mind for a slow saturday night.

IT

Stephen King at his best…

This looks creepy as hell. I already have chills just by watching this trailer. I could never finish this novel, and I’m so scared of clowns that I always ran away from such movies. But after seeing this trailer, I don’t know. I will cry. I will scream. I won’t sleep for weeks or even months and I will probably regret it the moment I will have seen it. But honestly, this looks so good I just want to see it.

If you have seen Hemlock Grove on Netflix you know how scary Bill Skarsgard can be. Here he plays Pennywise and I can’t wait to see how he brings him to life. Looking at the fews glimpses we see in this trailer, he’s going to be scary as hell. I don’t think they could have picked a better actor to portray this iconic character in real life. He’s going to scare people for years to come.

If I have the guts for it and I’m going with loads of friends, I’ll maybe see it in cinemas, but only at two in the afternoon so I have time to process it before dark. ^^

Spider-Man Homecoming (trailer #2)

Now this is film I’m excited for. It looks so great.

We already got an introduction into his characters in the latest Marvel film, where we see Tony Stark looking for Peter to ask for his help. We’ve got to see him and his funny quirks and off course, since I saw Captain America: Civil War, I’m hugely anticipating this one.

It’s not that the others were bad. I loved the first ones with Tobey Maguire (not so much the third one), but overall they were great and one of the first superhero films I saw and loved. It basically gave me an in into this type of film. The Amazing Spider-man came next but here I only saw the first one. Andrew Garfield was ok, but he was less funny. He went more the serious nerdy way and I think they all took this reboot a bit too seriously.

But here we have Tom Holland giving his twist to this beloved character and I’m actually really looking forward to it. He was great in Captain America. He is funny, young and from the few shots he’s flying around, you can read so much in his body language. Michael Keaton comes back to the superhero genre as a bad guy. The fight scenes look slick. I mean, these are all reasons why I’m really, really anticipating this film. I’ll be sure to check this one out when it comes out in cinemas.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (teaser #2)

Cara Delevigne and Dane DeHaan in a sci-fi movie by Luc Besson… I’m intrigued…

This movie will be gorgeous. You can already see that from the trailer. All Luc Besson’s films have this beauty around them that leave you in awe of the images. I’ve been following his Instagram in the hope of catching glimpses of this film and stills and such. Now that this movie is approaching, I feel my excitement for it rise. I was not a huge fan of Lucy, so I do feel that he has to prove himself with this one. Lucy was a bit of a mess, not making sense all the time, but beautifully filmed and an excellent Scarlet Johannson. I hope that with this movie he will show that he’s great at making films, because he is. It is a huge undertaking and trying to adapt such loved material is always a risk, but I do think it is safe in his hands.

Cara Delevigne though, will have to surprise me. I think she was ok in Suicide Squad but she didn’t really have this huge role in it, except looking crazy. Here she will be able to show more of her ability to act and I’m a bit nervous to see how she will be. (Nope, I haven’t seen Paper Towns yet, so I don’t know). The other cast is marvelous. Dane DeHaan is a great actor. Rihanna seems to have a really cool part. Clive Owen and Ethan Hawke are part of the cast. Luc Besson managed to surround himself with some great actors to bring these characters to life. This is another one I’ll want to watch in cinemas (just for the images alone).

War for the Planet of the Apes (trailer #1)

Family. Friends. Apes… Planet of the Apes…

This is the third film in this series and it looks amazing. It looks darker and more like a war film than any of the others. I heard they’re already planning a fourth one and I’m so afraid they’re going to milk this series, but I’m still hugely anticipating this one. I loved the originals and the new movies are great as well and I can’t wait to see how they all fit together and to see how they connect to the originals.

Woody Harrelson looks great as the big villain here in this film and the apes look better each movie. Andy Serkis is one of the bests in acting with motion capture and comes to light in these films. He should get an award for his work. We also see a human child in Ceasar’s care. Could she be the one? I’m so excited to see how it all connects. This is another one I’ll definitely watch in the theatre.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?
