New Trailer Reviews (#11)

Wind River

Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen reunite

This seems like an amazing thriller, where you’ll be sitting at the edge of your seat for the entire movie. Putting this movie in sdsd, they have the opportunity to use the harsh living conditions and the surrounding nature, to increase the tension and the action. From the different reviews showed in the trailer and the different I’ve read online, this seems a thriller like none other and one that is truly special. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen have this connection on screen that will surely help the movie and the story develop. This is one that I’m asap going to put on my ‘to watch’-list.

Professor Marston & the Wonder Women

The story behind the comics

First we get the Origin story of Wonder Woman (and the first solo female superhero movie), and now we get a behind the scenes look at the lives of the her writer. And it’s an unconventional one. There has always been rumors and different facts that have been circulating about Mr. Marston and his polyamorous relationship with his wife and a former student. Both had a huge impact on the creation of Wonder Woman and on her feminist background. Another really interesting movie and one I definitely want to watch. The entire story is just so interesting to me and I hope to get a glimpse in how Wonder Woman was created.

Only the Brave

Story of Survival & Friendship

At first glance, when the trailer starts, I had the feeling that this would be yet another thriller, survival, disaster movie, but while the trailer continues, the story shifts. They focus on the story of these guys, this band of brothers you can say, who want to help, who train, who get through so much, each for their own reasons, but at the end of the day, to survive, to help and to save their town and their loved ones. Pulling the story more towards the human stories and their backgrounds, away from the pure disaster movie, it makes it so much more interesting. Definitely a must-watch for me.

The Shape of Water

The newest from Guillermo Del Toro

This seems like such an interesting story like none I have seen before. And such a story in the hands of Guillermo Del Toro, always gives us a really beautiful, yet gripping, sometimes frightening movie. It has his specific style through and through. And from the beauty of the images and the combination with the music from Alexandre Desplat, you can be sure that it will enthrall and mesmerize you. This is another movie I have been eagerly waiting for and I can’t wait until it drops in cinemas.

The Snowman

The Snowman is coming for you

What is it with movies with crazy psychopath killers. This is the second on in this list. Here we get one that is obsessed with the snow and calls himself The Snowman. Now, it does seem a little bit different and I’m quite looking forward to see how Michael Fassbender will be in this movie, but I’m not quite sure I’m going to see this one in cinemas. I’ll probably pick it up when it’s in stores to see it at home.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

SDCC 2017 – News & Trailers

Pacific Rim: Uprising (Teaser Trailer)

And rise we will

I’m so ashamed to admit that I haven’t seen Pacific Rim by Guillermo Del Toro, really. It’s definitely on my ‘to watch’-list, but with the abundance of films that come out each year, it always get pushed back and back and I never get around to it. I might have to change this now. Just because of this teaser. It looks great. It doesn’t give anything away from the story, nothing really. But the images look great. The appeal is definitely there. And with John Boyega (a bit more serious than we’re used) and apparently Scott Eastwood attached as well, this movie can’t be anything but great. If the story isn’t there, at least the images will look great and it will be a true spectacle. I can’t wait.

Wonder Woman #2 has been confirmed

Oh, she’ll be back

News_01It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody that, after the huge success Wonder Woman had at the box office, WB decided to make a sequel of it. It still hasn’t met all expectations, but her run isn’t over yet and I’m sure she’ll even surpass the sum Batman v Superman made. DC and Warner Bros finally found their way and it would be a total waste if they didn’t go further with this character. This news was nearly drowned under all the other amazing clips, trailers and news that was released at Comic Con, but for me it is an important one, so I wanted to add it in right here.

Justice League – Trailer

All In

This looks epic. After watching this trailer I’m left behind with jitters all over my body. The different action sequences look insane. The interactions between the characters are so interesting and funny. I’m a huge fan of Aquaman and The Flash, so I’m so happy to see they get their fair share of screentime and we get the first scenes underwater as well. I just hope they don’t go to dark with the story, but that they keep it a bit lighter that we’re used from DC. To be continued.

Ready Player One – Trailer

Finally we got images

This is another story, movie, event I’m hugely looking forward to. This seems amazing. I haven’t had the chance to read this book yet, but a lot of my friends have and they absolutely love it. When I heard Steven Spielberg would direct, my excitement for this movie rose and I have been eagerly waiting for a few snippets here and there. Off course they would release this trailer on Comic Con and I absolutely love it. I do get a bit of a Tron-vibe, but that is maybe because I don’t really know the story. I can’t wait to see this one and I’m sure it’s going to be an epic adventure.

Thor: Ragnarok – Trailer

The latest by our favourite God

I still have the feeling that I’m looking at a trailer for the next Guardians of the Galaxy. The way they use the music, the way they get a group of misfits together to overthrow a goddess in this case and save the world. I’ve been there and seen that. The only thing that does differ is the world their one. And Cate Blanchett looks just epic as Hela. Can’t wait to see her in all her forms and use her magic. I’m still very excited for this one, because Thor will forever hold a special place in my heart, but I do hope they didn’t lose too much of what him Thor.

Off course there has been so much more that has been released at Comic Con, but these are the ones that I am most excited about. What news or trailers were you excited to see or read about? What did I overlook? Let me know in the comments below and let’s discuss.

New Trailer Reviews (#10)

Geostorm

The weather goes crazy

I don’t really know what sort of vibe I have to get from this trailer. The music gives the trailer and the movie a more fun vibe, a bit like Guardians of the Galaxy. But the story in itself is more serious, with a lot of action, destruction and terrible, terrible weather. The premise is interesting and there are a lot of different directions they can take us in. But I don’t really know what direction they want to go to from this trailer. I hope the second trailer will give us a better direction, but for now this is one my watchlist. But I will see this one at home when I don’t have anything else to see.

The Wall

Mesmerizing Thriller

This seems like such a great movie. If you lose the promotional sentences throughout the trailer, you get an intense story about two comrades in arms divided by a wall, trying to survive a sniper that just wants to chat. This seems like such an action-packed movie, with so many thrills and one that will keep my on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to see where this story takes us and if the last movies of Doug Liman can be any indication at all (Edge of Tomorrow and Mr & Mrs. Smith), this movie will be beautifully shot and the action will be on point. A must-watch for me.

Darkest Hour

Churchill gets another film

This is another movie about Churchill and World War II. What I find interesting about this one is that they seem to not shy away from the darker side of Churchill. Is this the truth? Probably not, and we will never really know how he was during that time or what he was thinking. But what we do know is that he was a difficult man to live and work with. So this movie will be an interesting point of view and I’m especially looking forward to see how they will show this difficult relationship of Churchill with his wife, his secretaries, the outside world, the politicians. A must-watch for me.

A Wrinkle in Time

The latest from Disney

I do not know the original material on which this movie is based and I do feel that this will put me in a disadvantage. This movie, this story looks big and if you don’t know the backstory, I think you might lose the essence of the story. I hope that Disney learned from Tomorrowland and that they will make this story accessible to anyone, even those you haven’t read the book, not really simplifying it, but making it understandable to everyone. For the rest, I do think the trailer looks good. It promises to be a story full of magic, colour and an overwhelmingly big and well known cast. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis… are all in this movie. I’m a bit hesitant, but I think I’ll have to see this one in cinemas, just to be able to see all the colours and the action and the magic fully… I’m excited to see the full trailer.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Behind The Scenes)

Star Wars VIII has wrapped

I know this isn’t a real trailer and we don’t see a lot about the story, but the few images we get to see, have gotten me so excited for this movie. There will be a lot of action, lightsaber fights, new creatures, new characters and the story will apparently, if we can believe the interview bits, take us into new grounds and give us a new sense of Star Wars. It’s a sequel, but feels like a standalone. I’m so excited and I can’t wait to see the real full trailer to see where they will take us next.

Blade Runner 2049

The Sequel that no-one saw coming

We finally get a glimpse of the story in this full trailer. And this is the trailer I have been waiting for. Blade Runner being one of my number one favourite Sci-Fi film, I hold it near to my heart so I’m anxiously waiting for this film. I already know, I’ll either love it or hate it. And it all depends on the story. Here we see Officer K (Ryan Gosling) looking for Rick (Harisson Ford) because he found something that might change the world and he needs Rick to help him… understand? To testify? The exact reason we don’t know, but I do think the teaser we got from the story is an interesting one. But the images look great as ever and the music was here so well incorporated, it got me excited for the actual soundtrack.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#9)

The Greatest Showman

A musical about the start of Showbizz

This original take on the start of showbizz has some great actors and actresses linked to it. We off course have Hugh Jackmann, who already showed us one of his strength is in musicals. Zac Efron is going back to the genre after High School Musical. We see Zendaya taking on a more mature role than we’re used from her and even Rebecca Ferguson and Michelle Williams are joining the party. From this trailer I have the feeling this will be a perfect blend of music, cinematography, colours and light. They didn’t give us a clear view on the storyline, except on the start of the show, but I do think this will be one to watch.

A Bad Moms Christmas

The bad moms are back

And they’re tackling the most fun holiday of them all: Christmas. The original was one of my favourites movies of the past year, just because it was so funny and the perfect movie to go see with my friends. Now we’re getting an entire new movie in an entire other setting and period. Christmas is going to get dirty and bad and I love it.They can do so much fun things with this holiday and these characters and I can’t wait to see what they get up to next.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Jumanji is back

And yet again we have a remake. Ok, it’s not really a remake, but you know what I mean. The last year filmmakers and studios have been delving back in their archives to see what other stories they could bring back to life in a ‘newer’ look. Here it is time for Jumanji. The original was one of my favourite childhood movies, one I always watched when I was at my grandmother’s home, so it does have a special meaning for me. The first thing they changed is the game itself: it’s not a board game anymore, but it’s now a videogame. I don’t think this was an important change, but it does go with the way they want the story to unfold. The fact they change into another body, is an interesting change and will give a lot of opportunities for jokes and other events. I’m not entirely sure I will watch this one in cinemas, but it is one I want to watch at some point.

Death Note

American take on a Manga

If only this will come out ok. I’m so afraid of what they’ll do with this story. I’m a huge fan of the Manga and I’ve been devouring them. These are the kind of books you just can’t put down. With twists and turns at each turning of a page, you keep wanting more and I desperately want to know how it ends. With this movie, Netflix takes a chance and even though they already told that they took a lot of creative freedom, by putting the name ‘Death Note’ on it, you can’t but leave the fans with a certain expectation. Putting the white washing aside, I do hope that they keep to the core of the story and that it’ll be the most faithful adaptation as possibly can, storywise at least. I’ll have to see, but I’ll only watch it if I read all the Volumes. I do not want to be spoiled by this Netflix movie.

Breathe

“I don’t just want to survive, I want to truly live”

Andy Serkis brings us a tale of love, true strength and endurance set in a time not that far away. We follow the story of Robin who falls ill with Polio and starts losing all ability to walk and breathe. He finds strength in the love of his wife and sets on a marvellous adventure to find a way to live, truly live and not just survive. This seems like such a beautiful drama set at the beginning of this century. I like movies that are set in the not so distant past and that tell us stories of remarkable human beings that are not always put forward. This is also the first movie directed by Andy Serkis so I can’t wait to see how he tackles an entire movie. He previously directed some scenes in the Hobbit trilogy and these were already breathtakingly gorgeous, so I can’t wait to see his full creative vision in play. This will definitely be one I will check in cinemas.

Marvel’s Inhumans (ABC Tv Series)

Marvels takes over another network

This show seems a little strange. I honestly don’t know anything about this comic and the story and I didn’t get a lot of information from the trailer either. There is one who can’t speak of won’t speak because his power is connected to it. Iwan Rheon is back playing the bad guy. And there are a lot of other characters that come to earth and then problems arise and that is the only thing I got from this. The special effects do look incredible and that would be the only reason I would check this out. That and Iwan Rheon playing a bad guy again. I’m not sure about this one.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#7)

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

Olaf is back !

This looks so sweet. After seeing the short film which was centered around Spring, now we get to see them at Christmas time. And this is my favourite holiday. December is my favourite month. Frozen is one of my favourites films. So I couldn’t be more excited. Especially because it’s linked to Coco, the newest Pixar Film. We will have new songs about Christmas and family. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited? I do hope they don’t milk the story too much. I’d rather see a full length second film really soon, then 10 little short films. Disney get at it.

Flatliners

Students go further than ever to get a rush

This movie started out looking like a movie about students and partying, but then took a turn for the worse. Actually for the better, because it seems like a really interesting movie with great actors, a lot of possible crazy plot points and amazing action scenes. The concept is actually so interesting and one that has been touched upon here and there, but not in a full-blown movie. I can’t wait to see what they do with it and how it’ll turn out. I hope it doesn’t get stuck in its seriousness about the afterlife, but that they focus on the thriller aspect of the movie.

Jungle

Daniel Radcliffe is stuck in the Jungle

What is it with movies lately, this is the second trailer where the story takes us a certain way at first, and then turns it completely around and goes the thriller route? It’s build the entirely same way as Flatliners. First giving us a more ‘Into the Wild’-vibe. Daniel Radcliffe is on a journey around the world, travelling, experiencing life as it comes, seeing beautiful new places. Then he meets someone who takes him and a few others into the jungle to explore and leaves them all behind and then shit happens. It does seem like a great movie, with a lot of action and suspense, but the way the trailer was built, just reminded me a lot of the other one. I’m not sure I’ll see this one in cinemas though. Depends a bit on the second trailer. I’m more into the sci-fi storyline of Flatliners.

Goodbye Christopher Robin

story of the creator of Winnie The Pooh

This seems like such a cute movie, a bit like Paddington. The images look great and from this first look it seems a perfect blend of cinematography and music. I’m excited to see how Margot Robbie’s British accent will be. But I’m mostly excited to see how they’ll tell the story. I hope it will be full of fantasy, really putting the stories they tell on our screens in combination with their actual story. Just a bit of a mix like with Big Fish. We’ll have to wait and see. But I’ll be sure to check this one in cinemas.

Daddy’s Home 2

Meet the Fockers #2

I wasn’t really interested in the first film, but this one seems actually really funny. Plus, I must be honest, I’m a sucker for a good Christmas movie. It does remind me a lot of Meet the Fockers and Meet the Parents. But with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell it will have it’s own type of humor. And I can’t wait to see Mel Gibson and John Lithgow clash. This will be one I will watch in the month of December, at home, and add to my pile of Christmas movies to get me excited for the holidays. I’m already in the mood for it. ^^

Home Again

Another Romantic Comedy with Reese Witherspoon

Now this second trailer has me a bit more excited for this film. The short sentence I read on IMDb, doesn’t really come over in the trailer though. I didn’t get the feeling they were moving in with her and her family, but I do think this will give a more interesting twist to the story and i can’t wait to see how it will turn out. I won’t go see it in cinemas, but I’ll pick it up when I want to watch a movie on a lazy night or for a fun girlsnight.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#6)

The Mountain Between Us

Idris Elba and Kate Winslet try to survive

I don’t really know what to think of this movie. It’s packed with star power. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are both great actors with different awards behind their names and now they are acting together in a disaster movie. Do they want to attract award nominations and make a really serious movie about survival, or do they just want to make a good disaster movie, full of action, survival and suspense? I just don’t know and this bothers me a bit. Normally a trailer is more ‘open’ about the way they want to take this movie, but here I frankly don’t know. I prefer to know it before I watch a movie so I can put myself in the right mindset. Maybe trailer #2 will give me another perspective on this. I will watch it, but probably not in cinemas.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Funny and Action, I’m in

Now, this seems like a fun movie. With Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard charged with protecting Samuel L. Jackson as the hitman, this movie has a lot going for it. Next to them we can also see Salma Hayek and so many others. It seems to has a nice plot, a lot of crazy action scenes and gives of a little bit of a Deadpool and Kingsman vibe. This will definitely be one I’ll be seeing in cinemas, just to experience it in all its glory on the big screen.

Murder on the Orient Express

A huge cast tackles this well-known tale

This was a trailer I waited so long for and it looks great! The huge cast they got together is just so impressive that I’m sure this film will be amazing. The cinematography looks great. The music seems on point. The graphics are perfect. It all seems so well put together and the tension is already real in the trailer. I can’t wait to see this great story turned to the big screen again with some of the biggest stars of the moment. November can’t be here quick enough.

Coco

The latest Pixar Movie

Yes, Pixar is back! And this seems like the cutest film ever. I already saw the teaser trailer, but here we get to see more of the story and the feel of the movie; At first sight, it does remind me a bit of ‘The Book of Life’, but I hope the story takes us a totally different way. I think they will focus more on family and the differences between their worlds. The images and graphics look great, as per usual with a Pixar movie and I’m sure it will hit us right in the heart. Definitely one I will watch in cinemas.

Black Panther

Damn

I like where Marvel is heading with this one. I watched it three-four times in a row just to be sure that I catched up on all the little details. Because, wauw. The way they blend African culture with the modern world is amazing. The action scenes look mindblowing. The costumes are ridiculously gorgeous and the story will be, in my opinion, one of the more interesting ones in the Marvel universe. Only negative point is that we’ll have to wait until February of next year until we can see it.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?

New Trailer Reviews (#5)

Star Trek: Discovery (Netflix)

Netflix gives Star Trek a go

It’s quite interesting to see the different movie franchises taking the step to the small screen. And here we even get a franchise that started on the small screen, jumped to the big screen and is now leaping back to small screen. And with Netflix it’ll come even to our phone screens. I’m actually excited about this one. It seems great and the production design seems out of this world. I just hope it doesn’t go the way the current Marvel stories are evolving into. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it’ll go.

From the Land of the Moon

Marion Cotillard at her best

This movie looks so great. It gives me the feeling of a beautiful European art film. Marion Cotillard is great and is back to what she can do best: deep and dramatic roles. This film will probably rip my heart out, throw it on the ground and stomp all over it. It’s been a long time since seeing such a film that got me really excited, with an interesting story and cast. So I’ll definitely check this one out on the big screen.

Paddington 2

Yes, he’s back

When it was first announced they were making a second Paddington, I was a bit hesitant. I loved the first one so much and I didn’t want them to screw it up. But now after seeing this first teaser I’m actually really excited. Paddington is really sweet and I do have the feeling the family is even more involved in this story. I can’t wait to see what they all get up to and what the story will be all about.

Rough Night

Euhm… What?

This just seems so wrong. It looks like one of those films again. I think they want to make another movie with strong women, to empower us, but I don’t think they are hitting their mark. It seems pushed. It seems strained. This is a perfect movie to watch with my friends on a slow saturday night, but not on the big screen.

Logan Lucky

Steven Soderbergh is here to wauw us again

With a cast of Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Seth MacFarlane, Adam Driver and Riley Keough, this movie can’t be anything but great. And especially with Steven Soderbergh in the director seat and with this amazing trailer, this is a movie I’ll definitely see in cinema’s. It looks crazy and so much fun and I… Can’t… Wait… 😀

Victoria and Abdul

The queen and her friend invite us

This movie and the story, the story that is known by everyone, this will be a great one. This will touch everybody. This certainly will touch me. And with Dame Judi Dench, you know the acting will be on point. I don’t even want to tell more about it, because this is certainly one I will watch. And the sooner it gets out, the better.

What do you think? Are any of these films on your watchlist? And which ones will you be seeing in cinemas?
